# PII Purge

> PII Purge is an online tool and REST API from Hexploits Ltd (https://hexploits.com) for detecting and redacting personal information in PDFs and text. Upload a supported PDF or paste text, run redaction, then review the result before sharing.

## Product facts

- Free daily allowance: 1 redaction without an account or a card; resets at midnight UTC.
- Account allowance: 50 redactions a month with a card, shared by the website and API.
- Additional usage: 30p each up to 1,000 total monthly redactions, 20p from 1,001 to 9,999, and 8p from 10,000. Each price applies within its band.
- A successfully processed document or text submission counts as one redaction, within the supported limits.
- Supported PDFs: a text layer is required, up to 50 pages and 25 MB. Scanned or photographed pages are not supported.
- Pasted text: up to 1 MB per request. Detected items become labels such as <PERSON> and <CONTACT>.
- PDF output: rebuilt page images with black bars over detected information and embedded images. Original text layers, metadata, attachments and form fields are removed; output text cannot be selected or searched.
- Content handling: submitted documents and text are processed in memory and not retained or used for training. Operational metadata is retained; see the privacy policy.
- Review required: automated detection can miss information or remove details you intended to keep. Redaction alone does not establish anonymity or legal compliance.
- API base: https://pii-purge.com/v1. An account, card and API key are required.
